How to: 48% Cardiovascular Problem Reduction
Think what a better world it would be if we all, the whole world, had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down on our blankets for a nap. - Barbara Jordan

It’s getting late here, so a lot of you are going to have an early delivery of this newsletter.
This post is inspired by this weeks 72 Hour Retreat, the onboarding session I conduct with every potential new Principal, this one having had weight issues for the better part of their life.
The reason for them to reach out was my prospectus about the COVID-19 metrophobia, and the efforts I had undertaken to re-settle, and thereby stabilize an entire family, and supporting them mentally through the global crisis.

So, in context to COVID-19, and the associated vaccine they were worried about their cardiovascular health, considering the recent spike in cardiovascular diseases globally, and first studies indicating a correlation between the vaccine, and the increase of cardiovascular diseases in humans.
STOP! I’m not going to go down the road of anti-vaxxer-dom and so forth with you. I’ve had too many pointless discussions, and as I mentioned in last weeks post, I respect everybody for their person, and their decisions.
What makes a perfect UHNWI Life Coach for statesmen, business (wo)men, drug lords, influencers, sheiks, mercenaries, sultans, crypto HODLers alike?

So during our 72 Hour Retreat we confirmed that the regret about having taken the vaccine under duress was really having a negative impact in their life, particularly because they have a family history of cardiovascular problems to look upon.

Life extension requires a good heart
Most high net-worth individuals have a tendency to fearing death more than the less wealthy, and that is because they have a lot more to lose you would think… well, it’s more complicated than that, and perhaps I’ll write a more dedicated post about that in the future.
Fact of the matter is through the numerous longevity coaching sessions I have done with my Principals, I have become somewhat medically literate, and have always followed closely what the physicians, and other specialists told my clients to then include that advice into my own life as much as I can.
One of the pieces of information that came up time and again was that a healthy heart is the foundation of longevity.
So there’s this list of no-brainers about how to reduce your risk of cardiovascular problems, which I’ll just mention for the sake of completeness:
Don't smoke or use tobacco because it hurts your heart and blood vessels.
Exercise often to help control your weight, blood pressure, and sugar levels. Try doing 150 minutes of exercise every week with some strength training and stretching too.
Eat a balanced diet full of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, low-fat dairy products, and good fats to protect your heart.
Watch how much you eat so that you don't gain too much weight which is bad for the heart.
Spend time with friends or join groups like church or book clubs to feel happy and less stressed.
Learn ways to relax when you are feeling stressed out such as deep breathing exercises or meditation.
Drink alcohol only in small amounts: one drink per day for women; two drinks per day for men
Get enough sleep each night- at least seven hours -to keep your body working well
See, a no-brainer… but cardiovascular problems are a major cause of death and disability worldwide!
Deaths from cardiovascular disease surged 60% globally over the last 30 years. An estimated 17.9 million people died from CVDs in 2019, representing 32% of all global deaths. Of these deaths, 85% were due to heart attack and stroke.
That’s something to chew on, right?
Heart attack? Stroke? Sleep it off!
So with one of my Principals I worked on the entire longevity issue.
Among others we went to see this naturopath, which had been part of their medical team for quite some time.
The reason to have that person on their team was insanely interesting: as quite a large amount of people do, my Principal had reservations toward the medical, and pharmaceutical establishments… I didn’t beg to differ.
So went to see this quirky old man, who was surprisingly versed in their field.
Their practice was like a set out of an Indiana Jones movie. On the walls were dark brown bottles with indeterminable writing on them. The rooms were rather gloomy, and obviously hadn’t been renovated in a few decades, the medical equipment appeared to be from the past century (the early part), and the whole place just felt weird.
The conversation we were having with the really quirky, yet very bright human being was interesting, yet complicated because their desk was filled with notes, books, and files at least 50cm high, so it was like talking to a wall, which as actually answering you.
The most important takeaway the wall of paper gave us was, that the risk of cardiovascular complications could be reduced by close to 50% simply by taking a nap at least twice a week.
By now you should know me, and the first thing I did when we walked out of there was to start to research this quote… and the dude was right!
I think I mentioned that I grew up in a rather modest mllieu. In a village where the most common occupation was farming. In this place, and at that time you didn’t call anyone between noon and 2 pm, much less would you go anywhere and ring the doorbell. You wouldn’t mow the lawn, or do anything noisy for that matter because everyone, and their dog was asleep.
So naturally, and by passing on of traditions I had integrated this into my daily routine since… forever, basically.
My naps weren’t extensive… 30-45 minutes. But it was enough shuteye to reenergise for the second half of the day.
Sure, if I was wearing a sweater the people I advised would often look at me strange when I came back from my lunch break with the knitting pattern of my sweater on my forehead, because I’d been too lazy to go back to the hotel, and had just slept with my head on the desk...
So, try that for yourself. And don’t give me any excuses… Even the knitting pattern impression on your forehead is temporary ;-)
And no, this is not an excuse to neglect all the other points I mentioned in the bullets above… and then some!
My Best, and have a nice weekend
